APPU GHAR, the Mini Disneyland of Delhi, was a concept which was pioneered by Mr Suresh Chawla, who can be referred as the Father of Amusement Park industry in India..
This first Amusement Park in India was set up at Pragati Maidan.
It was inaugurated by Ex Prime Minister, Late Sh. Rajiv Gandhi in November 1984. It was the dream child of the Late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi. In fact, the place was named by her.
Mr Suresh Chawla is also the founder promoter of the M/s International Amusement Park ltd, the company which managed and operated APPU GHAR. He has developed extensive of experience in the Amusement & Entertainment Industry.
The park Appu Ghar, which was successfully operational right from its opening in the year 1984, was a role model for other parks set up in India. Being the first and only one in country, offers for many parks came and some were set up under the expert guidance of Mr Suresh Chawla.
Appu Ghar is a name which is most commonly used for most amusement parks.
Spread over 15.5 acres of land, it housed 22 immensely popular rides in its premises, which include Roller Coaster, the Big Splash, Dodgem Cars, Cable Car, Speeding Car, the Eerie Tunnel, Giant Wheel and Appu Columbus. Though most rides were imported at the time of setting up of park, many new rides were added later by own manufacturing manufactured at our factories in Noida. Turn key projects were also undertaken to set up many parks all over country apart from sale of rides manufactured at factories.
The OYSTERS, water park which was added later and was spread over an area of 3.5 acres boosted of attractions both for summers as well as winters including rain dance, sledding, skiing, ice boating, ice bowling, ice dance, etc.
M/s International Amusemnt Park Ltd, the parent company for other companies has paved way for The Adventure Island at Rohini and The Great India Park at Noida.
